Knowledge Web

I've been reading The Knowledge Web by James Burke. It is great fun! It reminds me of Herodotus with his breezy, almost gossipy style. I had checked it out from the Bookmobile (parked by the new hardware store every Thursday from 2:30-5:00). Since I still didn't want to part with it, I ordered it. As I read it I am reminded of how we must try to introduce our students to all disciplines. So many ideas and people are interconnected! Often an artist or musician would suggest an idea to a scientist leading to a discovery important to modern life. There are many examples of people trained as scientists who became great artists and vice versa.
